Blind Golf Canada in conjunction with its three regional associations, NSBGA, WCBGA, and OVIG, has formed the BGC Junior Blind Golf Program.
It is the mission of Blind Golf Canada to identify, promote and bring awareness of blind golf to children coping with blindness or vision loss in Canada. Additionally, we want to encourage active participation whether at a recreational or competitive level. Our motto is, “WE CAN STILL PLAY”, so we encourage all, ages, abilities, and genders to join and participate in blind golf in Canada. Ass such we always strive to encourage youth to come out and start “SWINGING “.
BGC will utilize the services of a CNIB – facilitated-mail out to invite blind and partially-sighted children ages 7 to 18 years of age to come out and participate at a junior clinic to be held in conjunction with a BGC-sanctioned tournament. Junior golfers and their families will be encouraged to become BGC junior golf members and thus sharing any and all personal / contact info with BGC for on-going retention in a junior member data base.
As part of our junior blind golf program development process, BGC will begin hosting junior golf clinics in conjunction with our regional / national tournaments with the goals of junior golfer recruitment, skill development, and the establishment of a junior Drive, Chip and Putt competition, as well as a junior category to be implemented into our regional tournaments culminating with a National Junior Champion being crowned at our Canadian Open Blind Golf Championships!
